If you have a disability or special needs and would like to discuss your concerns with someone.

  • The Office of Disability Services, located in the Mountainlair, provides for a wide range of student disabilities:
    • counseling
    • relocating classrooms
    • obtaining taped textbooks
    • arranging for transportation
    • arranging for special classroom
    • contacting faculty regarding
    • suggestions for class scheduling
    • arrangements for testing
    • recorded reading material
    • assisting with housing needs
    • referring for educational evaluations
    • consult with Rehabilitation Services

  • The Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services offers professional counselors and psychologists that are available free of charge to students.

I'm interested in career information. Where can I go to find out more?

  • The WVU Career Services Center provides resources and activities to help students and alumni in all areas of career planning and job search. Located above the WVU Bookstore in the Mountainlair, the Career Services Center has a qualified staff to deliver personal assistance to students through individual appointments, small group seminars, classes, and career literature.
  • During an individual career planning session with a Career Services Counselor, you can explore all the factors that need consideration before selecting or changing your major. They can direct you to appropriate career resources in our library and suggest activities that provide you with information vital to those all-important decisions regarding your future.
  • The Career Services Center also has a wide range of offerings for students near graduation and alumni who are interested in employment or graduate school. We have a variety of special topic seminars on such subjects as interview techniques, resume writing, and letter writing. They also offer a job referral service and on-campus interviews with prospective employers.

I would like to work part-time while in college and would like to know how to find a job.

  • The Job Location and Development Office (JLD) assists students with individual employment needs. As part of the Career Services Center, JLD serves as a link or clearinghouse for part-time, seasonal, summer, and internship resources.
  • Flexible employment with JLD helps WVU students to gain experience in the world of work while helping to defray the rising cost of educational expenses.
  • Funded by the Federal Work Study Program, all students may register and utilize the service regardless of financial status. Students must register each year with JLD. To register, students must come to the office and complete a registration form. Referrals are made on the basis of experience, hours available, transportation need, and interest. Employment binders are available for students' information.
