Guidance Counselor Resources

Welcome to a West Virginia University's web resource! We've dedicated these pages for your use in assisting students. We appreciate the hard work and dedication you provide to students during the college selection process.

A Message to ALL High School Guidance Counselors

The new ACT exam includes a writing component. While the writing component is listed as an option for students who sign up to take the ACT exam, it is an admission REQUIREMENT for all entering freshman students at West Virginia public four-year colleges, effective in August 2006.

Please inform all high-school students who are considering entering a West Virginia public four-year college of the requirement to take the ACT writing test that is a component of the new ACT college entrance examination.

Please bookmark this page and make use of this resource when assisting students searching for a college to attend. Below are links to additional information on academic majors, costs, financial aid, applications, and many other details. We also have several admissions counselors to answer your questions, or even visit your school. Please contact Tricia Petty or Eric Hansmann by phone, fax or email with your concern or request. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
