  • Scholarships are awarded on an ongoing basis beginning October 15.
  • Grade-point average (GPA) is based on information received from a student's high school transcript. The most recent cumulative GPA on the transcript is used when determining admission to the University. This is the same GPA used by the Undergraduate Scholarship Office when determining scholarship eligibility. The Office of Admissions and Records does not re-calculate GPA's for scholarship consideration after the initial high school transcript is received.
  • We will use the highest composite ACT or SAT score submitted from one test date. At this time, writing/essay sections are not included as part of the total score being used for evaluation.
  • Students receiving a perfect ACT or SAT score may be eligible for additional scholarship dollars. Please contact the WVU Undergraduate Scholarship Office for details.
  • Please note: If a student is eligible for more than one scholarship from the WVU Scholars Program, the student will be awarded the scholarship with the highest dollar value. Students named as National Merit Finalists may use their WVU-sponsored need-based National Merit award in addition to any other WVU scholarship for which the student qualifies. To retain renewable scholarships for subsequent years, all scholars are required to maintain specific cumulative grade point averages and to complete a minimum number of credits each year. To review renewal requirements, please visit: www.arc.wvu.edu/Scholars_Office/in_state_renewal.html
  • If you qualify for the West Virginia PROMISE scholarship, in most cases your WVU scholarship (except the Foundation Scholarship) will be awarded in addition to PROMISE.
