TIMELINE and IMPORTANT DEADLINES
for FUTURE STUDENTS
Junior Year of High School: During your junior year, take the ACT or SAT so that you will have the opportunity to take them again during your senior year. Check any requirements or deadlines that WVU has for admission, scholarships and financial aid. You are also encouraged to tour campus during a Mountaineer Visitation Day.
Senior Year of High School:
September 15:
- WVU begins processing admission applications.
October - December
October 15:
- WVU begins awarding scholarships
- Housing starts to accept completed applications. You must pay your academic deposit to receive housing information!
December 1:
January:
February 1 Deadlines today:
- WVU-administered academic scholarship consideration.
- Priority for WVU admission.
- Housing roommate request.
- Housing assignments begin!
February 15:
- Financial aid priority consideration date.
March 1:
- Financial aid deadline for institution need-based aid.
- West Virginia residents: submit your PROMISE Scholarship application.
- Academic deposit priority deadline.
March/April:
- Financial Aid award letters are mailed to admitted students.
- New Student Orientation information is sent to those who have paid the academic deposit.
May 1:
- Last day to receive a full refund on your academic deposit.
- Last day to receive a partial refund on your housing deposit.
- Last day to register for New Student Orientation.
June:
- Attend New Student Orientation.
- Submit final transcripts and/or immunization records.
July/August:
- Receive electronic bill for tuition, fees, and housing through your WVU MIX account.
