TIMELINE and IMPORTANT DEADLINES
for FUTURE STUDENTS
Junior Year of High School: During your junior year, take the ACT or SAT so that you will have the opportunity to take them again during your senior year. Check any requirements or deadlines that WVU has for admission, scholarships and financial aid. You are also encouraged to tour campus during a Mountaineer Visitation Day.
Senior Year of High School:
September - November
- Send in your WVU application for admission .
- Retake ACTs or SATs if necessary.
- Visit WVU's campus during a Senior Mountaineer Visitation Day.
December 1:
January:
- Begin to file the FAFSA form.
February 1:
- All admission materials must be postmarked by this date to be considered for academic scholarships.
- Housing Roommate Request deadline.
- Housing assignments will begin to be mailed.
February 15:
- Financial aid priority consideration date.
March 1:
- Financial aid absolute deadline date. (Forms must be received by, not mailed on, this date.)
March/April:
- Financial Aid award letters are mailed to admitted students. Complete the acceptance form on the back of your award letter and return it to the Financial Aid Office within 15 days. Failure to return the award letter will cause your Financial Aid to be canceled.
- New Student Orientation Information sent out.
May 1:
- Last day to submit a written request for a housing deposit refund.
- Last day to submit a written request for an Academic Deposit refund.
June:
- Attend New Student Orientation.
- Submit final transcripts and/or immunization records.
July/August:
- Receive electronic bill for tuition, fees, and housing through your MIX account.
August:
- Freshmen begin to move into the residence halls - Saturday, August 18
- Classes begin on Monday, August 20
- Fall Fest Activities - Monday, August 20
