Mountaineer Visitation Days

Mountaineer Visitation Days (MVD) are for interested students and their families to visit. As our guest for the day, you and your family will tour the campus and meet faculty and staff to learn about admission requirements, courses of study, the cost of attendance, financial aid, scholarships, housing, student organizations, and other important information. Optional activities are offered at the end of the day to enhance your visit. You may ride the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT), attend a class, or shop in the WVU Bookstore. Lunch will be provided in one of our dining facilities for a "true taste" of University life.

If you have additional Mountaineer Visitation Day questions, please check our on-line FAQ.

About two weeks prior to your scheduled visit, we'll send you confirmation information that includes a tentative schedule, directions to campus, and a list of area lodging. In the meantime, listed below are some basic details.

Please arrive at the Blue Gate of the WVU Coliseum between 8:15 - 9:15 a.m. WVU staff members will greet you and direct you to shuttle buses. Transportation will be provided throughout the day.

Please wear comfortable shoes and dress according to the weather, as you'll be doing some walking and MVD's are a rain or shine event! In the event of severe inclement weather, please call 304-293-2264 for cancellation information, or visit www.wvu.edu for cancellation information. The MVD will only be canceled if WVU is closed.

If you are a high school senior who meets our minimum admission requirements and would like to have your application reviewed during the MVD, please bring a completed Undergraduate Admission Application, your official high school transcript in a sealed envelope, a copy of your ACT or SAT scores, immunization record, and the application fee.

Formal Activities wrap up in the afternoon, around 2:30 p.m.

All Mountaineer Visitation Days are similar in format, so it is not necessary to attend more than one session. You do not have to worry if you can not attend a particular session. We can, and would be glad to answer your questions at any of the sessions. More details can be found at our Mountaineer Visitation Day FAQ page.

If the dates for Mountaineer Visitation Day do not fit your schedule, check for additional campus tours through the WVU Visitor's Resource Center.
